Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Arunachal Pradesh, through the Department of Urban Affairs, on April 29, 2026, issued the Arunachal Pradesh Building Bye-Laws (Amendment) 2026 to revise provisions relating to parking standards, setbacks, ground coverage, Floor Area Ratio (FAR) and height norms under the Arunachal Pradesh Building Bye-Laws, 2019.

The amendments rationalize parking requirements for various commercial establishments including shopping centres, malls, multiplexes, hotels, service apartments and wholesale markets. Revised setback norms have also been introduced based on plot size categories, including separate standards for high-rise developments depending on site conditions.

Further, the notification revises development control parameters such as maximum ground coverage, FAR and permissible building heights for residential and other categories in both hill and plains/foothill areas. The amendments aim to facilitate planned urban growth, optimize land utilization and standardize development regulations across urban areas in the State.
